Hi, my name is Isabella and I'm a third-year Nursing student at the University of Alberta. I also live in [a] residence on campus. Come with me on the day of my life, I'm just going to my first class. I just finished my first class of the day in a Mental Health and Wellness Lab, we talked about crisis intervention training.
Now I'm off to go grab a coffee at Starbucks and then study with my friends. Before I go climbing with one of my friends, I just wanted to highlight this really cool space for Nursing students. This is the Nursing Simulation Lab. I spent a lot of time here in my first and second year. A nice thing about this place is that we get to use these mannequins to practice hands-on skills before we get into the hospital. Here, I learned how to do basic assessments and practical skills such as putting in an IV and dressing changes.
In between classes, I like to go to the Wilson Climbing Center, which is right on the heart of campus. There's bouldering, which is what I do and also top rope upstairs. Today I'm going to be climbing with my friend Emily, who I met on the first day of Nursing. Let's go!
Part of my work on campus is as a Head Storyteller, which involves making videos promoting residents. Right now I'm working on a TikTok about what it's like living with an emotional support animal in residence. I'm back in residence now and I'm just going to be hanging out with Tofu for a little bit.
The only things left on my agenda for tonight are bingo with some other students and residents and then finishing off my evening on shift as a Senior Resident Assistant where I'll be on call for emergency support.
The thing I love most about the University of Alberta is that it feels like home. Thanks for following me around today. I hope you got to know a little bit more about what it looks like to be a Nursing student at the University of Alberta.
