There's honestly so many programs here at the U of A, I think there's about 200 programs. When I first started University, my program didn't exist. That just tells you how many programs there are out there, and how many more are being created to cater to students even more. So just by talking to faculty, advisors, or professors, or even students from different years, it's honestly so helpful.

I think that being an undergraduate student really gives you the opportunity to ask lots of questions, and explore a lot of topics at a very early age with little risk. And I've really tried to hone in on that and explore a lot of different areas. So during one of my internships, I was able to find a real interest in batteries. And so I reached out to one of my profs here at the U of A, and asked him about the research that he's been doing, and the next thing you know, I was working in his lab at the National Center for nanotechnology, building these really cool lithium ion batteries.

Initially coming out of high school, I was recruited to play basketball and I had no real thoughts about what I want to do with my degree. And it didn't occur to me until three years into my kinesiology degree that I decided that I want to go in teaching. And I think I made this decision based on what I've been able to do with coaching, and I really enjoyed the positive experiences with the kids. So I think that really drove me to decide to go into education, which that then eventually transferred to the University of Alberta to enter in the combined kinesiology education degree.
