University of Alberta has world class facilities and award winning instructors that caters to the interests of every student here. I've always had a keen interest in studying cancer cells and how they regulated. I'm a huge cell biology buff. And thankfully, I am now working in a lab where I can look at all these associations in perfect harmony to further my education within cell biology.

I first became interested in research actually my first year, I was lucky enough to be a part of a fire project, which is a first year research experience. I actually use that experience in my second year when Dr. Otto was a guest lecturer and one of our classes. I just approached him after class and told him these are the areas I'm interested in. I love Interdisciplinary Studies. I love animal health, I love human health. And then he kind of got the ball rolling for me. My research started out with honeybees. But from there, it's kind of snowballed into a independent study into work on finfish aquaculture on to climate change articles. By doing this has provided me opportunities to present internationally, which is incredible because that means at this point in my academic career, I'm already able to network with people in my perspective professional career.

The advice that I would give to students seeking research would be to not limit your research search to you what your major is. The projects that I chose it was because I was interested in them and an in class of 30 people, we all had different research interests and research assignments. And so it was rewarding to learn from my peers and what their projects were and they got to learn from my project. So it was a win win.
