"Coming to the U of A, I really didn’t know anyone or have anchors anywhere in the city. Over the past three years, I’ve pushed myself to build meaningful connections with people through clubs, class, photography, and even open mic nights. Without such a strong, supportive force around me, I would have never been able to accomplish or try many of the things that I have. Having incredibly nurturing friends and mentors (and mentees) throughout my university life has allowed me to define myself as more than just my grades, but rather as a growing and ever-changing human. I’ve heard you become the average of the people you spend the most time with, and if that’s the case then hopefully I’ll turn out alright! In turn, receiving so much kindness and graciousness from those around me has inspired me to focus on giving back and empowering others in every way I can.”
